The whole thing started back in 2020, when Shah,in an interview with The Wire, praised Deepika Padukone for visiting JNU students and took a dig at Kher for backing the government online. He called him a clown and said other actors from NSD and FTII would agree.Kher didn't stay quiet. He posted a long video hitting back, saying Shah's comments sounded like something said under the influence, and that being criticised alongside names like Amitabh Bachchan and Shah Rukh Khan put him in good company. That clip is the same one doing the rounds again now, lsix years later, thanks to an unrelated Ram Mandir donation row that somehow dragged Kher's name back into the mix.Funny how these things never really die on the internet, they just wait.Kher had actually already addressed all this back in November last year on a YouTube show called Unfiltered by Samdish. He said the two ran into each other at filmmaker HD Pathak's memorial, and Shah walked up,hugged him,and said sorry, and Kher, who says he always hugs Shah anyway, took it warmly, calling him someone he still respects and someone who inspired him to act in the first place.
Kher did admit Shah still says things about him from time to time, and he thinks there's some old bitterness there that occasionally spills onto other names too, not just his.
