The film sees Yash playing a dual role as Raya and Ticket, working under director Geetu Mohandas for the first time. Budgeted at a reported 600 crore rupees,it's being called one of the most expensive Indian films ever made. And that scale shows in the cast list too, with Nayanthara,Kiara Advani,Huma Qureshi,Tara Sutaria and Rukmini Vasanth all playing key roles alongside him. Hollywood action choreographer JJ Perry, known for his work on John Wick,is behind the film's fight sequences, giving Toxic a distinctly global feel.
The buzz hasn't come without friction though.A scene from the teaser sparked backlash earlier this year, with the Aam Aadmi Party's women's wing filing a formal complaint with the Karnataka State Commission for Women over what they called an obscene moment. That controversy even dragged up an old interview where Yash had said he wouldn't do scenes he couldn't watch with his own parents, and social media didn't let that slide easily. Still, none of that noise seems to have shaken Yash's confidence going into the release, and with the film shot across six Indian languages plus English, the makers are clearly betting big on a pan India audience.
