Thalapathy Vijay's Jana Nayagan just hit its first real speed bump. The film dropped a massive 68 percent on its first Monday, falling to around 11 crore net after pulling in nearly 35 crore the day before. It's the kind of dip trade watchers expected once the weekend crowd thinned out.Still, the film has already crossed the 150 crore mark worldwide, and that's no small thing for what's being called Vijay's final big screen outing.

Released on July 23,the political action drama opened with a bang, earning 42.70 crore net on day one alone. Sunday brought a fresh surge, jumping over 10 percent to touch nearly 35 crore, and fans packed theatres across Tamil Nadu especially. Monday told a different story though.Weekday numbers almost always fall after a festive opening, and Jana Nayagan wasn't spared that reality check. Honestly, a drop this size still stings a little, even when everyone saw it coming.

Directed by H Vinoth and bankrolled by KVN Productions, the film stars Bobby Deol, Pooja Hegde, Mamitha Baiju and Prakash Raj alongside Vijay, and it marks something bigger too, since Vijay is stepping away from cinema to focus on politics as head of the Tamil Nadu Vetri Kazhagam party. The five day net total now sits close to 150 crore, with the overall gross figure pushing past that same number worldwide.Trade trackers are watching closely to see if Tuesday brings any kind of recovery
