The courtroom drama, which also stars Shreyas Talpade, tackles a heavy subject,the damage pesticide farming does to rural communities in India. Critics didn't totally write it off either. The Free Press Journal gave it 2.5 stars and said both leads turned in performances that surprised people, even if director Chettan DK's touch felt missing in a few scenes, especially the courtroom stretches. That's the thing about this film. Good reviews, weak reception. The India Story released on July 24 in Hindi,Tamil and Telugu, though the Telugu and Tamil versions ran into last minute censor trouble before release.Shooting had wrapped back in October last year after starting in Pune in January 2025, with more scenes shot around Kolhapur.
So now attention shifts to what comes next for her, and that's NBK111, her second film alongside Nandamuri Balakrishna after their hit Bhagavanth Kesari.Kajal has called the role in NBK111 one of the most powerful she's played, describing it as unlike anything she's done before.Directed by Gopichand Malineni,who worked with Balakrishna on Veera Simha Reddy, the film has already started shooting, and reports suggest her part is a full length role this time, not a cameo appearance stitched into someone else's story. The industry will be watching closely to see if this one changes her fortunes at the box office.
