Panorama Studios International is once again making headlines for its distribution ambitions in the regional cinema space, this time with the Punjabi film Ranjheya. The Mumbai-based studio has signed a worldwide distribution deal with Shadow Fox Entertainment LLP, granting it theatrical rights across the globe, including the crucial pan India territory. The development was formally disclosed in a regulatory filing to the Bombay Stock Exchange on July 6, underlining how seriously listed entertainment companies are now treating Punjabi cinema as a viable commercial category rather than a niche regional bet.
Ranjheya boasts a cast that many would consider unusually stacked for a Punjabi film. Singer-actor Hardy Sandhu leads the project, with Simrat Kaur and Angad Bedi playing significant roles alongside him. Angad Bedi, in particular, has built a reputation for straddling both Hindi and Punjabi productions with ease, and his presence in the cast signals that the makers are eyeing audiences well beyond the traditional Punjabi-speaking belt. The film has been written and directed by Gurjindh Maan, who takes on both creative responsibilities for the project.
Under the terms of the arrangement, Shadow Fox Entertainment will now be responsible for rolling out Ranjheya in theatres across India as well as in overseas diaspora markets, once the film is ready for release. Punjabi cinema has historically drawn strong numbers not just in Punjab but also in cities with large Punjabi-speaking populations abroad, including Canada, the United Kingdom, and Australia, making the "worldwide" scope of this deal particularly significant.
This is not an isolated move for Panorama Studios. The company has been steadily expanding its footprint in regional cinema over the past few months, having already picked up distribution rights for films such as Madhaniyan and Goldhaana. Ranjheya now becomes the latest addition to this growing slate, reinforcing a clear strategic pattern: Panorama appears to be diversifying beyond its core Hindi film business by actively courting Punjabi and other regional content. For a studio that trades publicly, such moves also serve as a signal to investors that it is broadening its revenue streams rather than depending solely on Bollywood releases.
As is typical with such BSE disclosures, neither Panorama nor Shadow Fox has revealed the financial terms of the deal. Stock exchange filings are generally required to confirm that a material agreement has been signed, but companies routinely stop short of disclosing valuations or deal structures, leaving industry watchers to speculate about the numbers involved. Similarly, no release date for Ranjheya has been announced yet, and the filing itself was silent on when audiences can expect the film in theatres.
