The film has already pulled in about Rs 25 crore from advance sales alone, and trade trackers say the final presale tally could climb to Rs 35 crore by the time the film opens. Distributors keep bringing up Avengers Endgame's opening of Rs 65 crore, still the record for a Hollywood film in India,and Brand New Day looks like it might get closer to that number than anyone expected a month ago. And nobody saw this coming so fast, not even the folks running the ticketing sites.
It's a strange kind of validation for Spider-Man in India, where the character has quietly become bigger than almost any other superhero on screen.The movie releases here on July 30,a full day ahead of its international rollout on July 31,and with 2,60,000 seats already gone, the film hasn't even opened its premiere shows yet.
