Sony Pictures Animation and Amazon MGM Studios confirmed the new film, called The Haunting of Hotel Transylvania,will hit theaters on October 8, 2027,and it marks the franchise's return to the big screen, since the fourth movie,Transformania, skipped theaters entirely and went straight to Prime Video back in 2022. Back in 2012,the original Hotel Transylvania made 355 million dollars worldwide, and the two sequels that followed did even better, pulling in 475 million and 530 million respectively. The story follows Dracula happily retired while his daughter Mavis takes over running the legendary monster hotel,right up until a string of strange and spooky things start happening around the resort.That sends the whole Drac Pack chasing down the mystery behind the haunting.Jennifer Kluska and Alan Hawkins are directing, with Lawrence Jonas producing and Genndy Tartakovsky and Michelle Murdocca on board as executive producers.Sony will handle the release across North America and a handful of other markets, while Amazon MGM covers international territories including the UK, France,Germany and Australia.
Nobody's confirmed the full cast yet, though Keegan-Michael Key has already said publicly that he's coming back to voice Murray the Mummy,the same role he has played since the very first film in 2012. Adam Sandler,Selena Gomez and Andy Samberg,who've voiced Dracula, Mavis and Johnny since 2012, haven't said a word yet about whether they're returning this time around.That silence is honestly a little nerve wracking for longtime fans. And the franchise has already pulled in over 1.3 billion dollars worldwide across its first four films, so there's plenty riding on ticket sales when this one finally opens next October.
