Mammootty just got his fourth National Film Award for Best Actor, and his son Dulquer Salmaan couldn't hold back the excitement over it.

The award came Saturday for his role as Kodumon Potti in Bramayugam, a black and white horror drama that's been picking up praise since it released. It's Mammootty's first National Award win since 1998, so this one had been sitting a while.Twenty eight years,to be exact. That's not a short gap for anyone. The win puts him alongside Amitabh Bachchan as the only actor to take home the Best Actor National Award four separate times. He'd already picked up the Kerala State Film Award for Best Actor for the same role earlier, his seventh state win overall.

Dulquer, who's shared the screen with fans before talking about his father's career, reacted to the news with visible pride online.Mammootty was in Chennai when word of the award reached him. The 74 year old actor has been in the industry more than five decades now and has appeared in over 400 films across that stretch, which is a number that's hard to even picture.Bramayugam also got a special screening at the Academy Museum in Los Angeles back in February, becoming the first Mammootty film shown there. He got the Padma Bhushan earlier this year too.
