Rawal had said on a podcast that OMG 2's story was originally his, something he built with director Amit Rai,and that he wasn't given credit once Akshay came on board. Varde isn't having any of it. In a long statement,he said it was actor Pavan Malhotra who first pointed him toward Amit Rai for the project.Amit went on to finish the script entirely on his own,Varde said, and the character of God, later played by Akshay, was actually written as a fakir in that very first draft. And that fakir detail is the one Varde keeps circling back to,like he needs everyone to notice it.
Varde didn't stop there. He says Rawal was quietly building an OMG like film under a different title, and called it nothing short of theft. Some of this reads less like a clarification and more like a grudge that finally got let loose. Rawal,on that same podcast, said several actors had already turned down his script before Akshay came in, but Varde's reply stings a little,he says everyone who passed on it told Rawal straight up that this was OMG, and that it was Akshay Kumar's film. OMG 2 released in 2023, with Pankaj Tripathi in the lead role and Akshay Kumar playing a divine messenger opposite him.
