Jason was born on August 26, 2000, in Neelankarai,Chennai, and grew up around film sets without ever really being of the industry himself. He studied at the American International School in Chennai before heading abroad, first through a diploma program in Canada and later at the University of Southern California, to properly learn filmmaking. And instead of using the V tied to his father's name, he's reportedly going by Jason Sanjay S, with the S standing for his mother, Sangeetha Sornalingam. He's kept a fairly low profile in recent years, and wasn't even seen at his father's swearing in ceremony as chief minister. Speaking to Cinema Vikatan, Jason said his family's support, along with encouragement from actors Vijay Sethupathi and Soori, gave him the confidence to pursue filmmaking seriously. He's also said acting isn't something he's actively chasing right now, even though he appeared in the film's promotional song just to introduce the project.
Sigma stars Sundeep Kishan and was originally set to release on July 31, but the makers pushed it to August so it wouldn't clash with Vijay's own film Jana Nayagan, out July 24, and Jason has kept mostly off the promotional trail for his own directorial debut too. Funny how even a son trying to step out of his father's shadow still has to work around his release date, and Sundeep has called Jason extremely hardworking, while cinematographer Krishnan Vasan said there's been crazy hype around the project despite Jason directing at just 25. Sigma is being produced under GKM Tamil Kumaran's banner, with Lyca Productions also involved in the film.
