By the close of Day 7, the Ajay Devgn comedy had collected close to Rs 96 crore net at the Indian box office, with its worldwide gross touching Rs 132.74 crore . That's a solid number for a film reportedly made on a budget somewhere between Rs 150 crore and Rs 200 crore . The film had opened to a first weekend haul of about Rs 65 crore net,and Riteish Deshmukh, Arshad Warsi, Jaaved Jaaferi and Sanjay Mishra are still pulling crowds alongside Devgn. And now, on its second Friday, Dhamaal 4 is running on barely 45 percent of its original screen count, having given up its IMAX and large format slots to Nolan's film. It feels a little rough watching a hit comedy get squeezed out of the big screens right when it needed one last push. The film's makers will be hoping the same crowd that's kept ticket counters busy since July 10 shows up anyway this weekend.
Netflix has reportedly picked up the post theatrical streaming rights, and going by how Hindi releases usually move to streaming about eight weeks after their theatrical run, Dhamaal 4 should land on the platform sometime in September. And it's still sitting close to that Rs 96 crore figure, with roughly four crore left to clear before it enters the 100 crore net club. Trade watchers had earlier pegged a three week open run for the film before Spider Man Brand New Day arrives.Dhamaal 4 didn't get the clean run they expected, not with The Odyssey moving in this fast.
